Who Can Apply ?

If you receive one of the following disability benefits you’re eligible for a new affordable car through the Motability Scheme:

Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
Enhanced Rate Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
If you receive an allowance from one of the above or you care for someone who does; you can be a carer, parent, or nominated driver you are also eligible. To double check your eligibility please visit the ‘Motability Scheme Eligibility Checker’ page.

Once you’ve discovered if you’re eligible, you need to decide on a form of payment outlined above in the ‘Who Can Apply?’ section and then just choose the car that you fancy.

A Brand-New Vehicle Every 3 Years

You get to choose a brand-new car every three years (or every five years if you lease a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle). At the end of your lease, you simply hand it back and step into a brand-new, up-to-date model.

Comprehensive Insurance Coverage

The scheme provides full insurance for up to three named drivers. This is incredibly flexible, meaning you don't even have to drive the car yourself—parents, guardians, or carers can be added to the insurance policy so they can drive you around.

All Servicing and Maintenance Included

You will never have to worry about unexpected repair bills or regular servicing costs. All manufacturer-scheduled servicing, routine maintenance, and unexpected mechanical repairs are fully covered by the scheme.
