About Croxdale Group

1940s

Croxdale Group has been owned by the same family since the start with our Head-Office is based in Croxdale, Durham, just off the A167 near Thinford. Originally, during the Second World War, the business was predominantly a munitions factory responsible for the manufacturing of Torpedos. Following the end of the war, the business diversified using scrap metal to manufacture furniture to sell mainly in the Capital - London. Due to the huge demand, the business prospered into NESS Furniture diversifying into all types of furniture over the years, especially high end bespoke pieces for large businesses. In addition to this operation, there was an agricultural engineering business based out of what is now the Aftersales Reception facility.

1967 Citroën Franchise Introduced During this period, and the success of a family owned motor racing team, the opportunity to take on the Citroën Franchise became available in 1967, to compliment an already growing used car sales operation. This will make Croxdale Group the oldest DS Citroën Dealer in the country, going live in 1968 with the Brand.

1973 The Business Succeeds The business was a success from the get-go, continuing with the brand following the final sales of the DS Citroëns in 1973. Further development has continued over the years to support the brand requirements and corporate identity.

1997

In 1997, Croxdale Fast Fit was introduced with a purpose built state of the art facility to maintain and repair all marks. This facility remains on site today along with the successful growth of 5 additional replicated facilities all within the North East; Darlington, Newton Aycliffe, Chester-Le-Street, Consett and Sunderland.

2019 The latest investment was made in 2019 when we totally renovated the Citroën showroom to the latest Manufacture specification to represent Citroën UK In addition to this, we have built a premium showroom to represent the DS Brand from it’s official launch in June 2019. This facility now hosts a 7 Car Citroën Showroom and 4 Car DS Showroom. In addition to the Citroën Car Showrooms, we also have a dedicated business centre (La Manufacture) to host the full LCV range for Citroën LCV vehicles, both New and Pre-Owned.

2021 During this time, the business has represented other Manufacturer partners on the 8 Acre site we have today, including Subaru, Mitsubishi and Lancia. Unfortunatley, due to Mitsubishi taking the decision to leave Europe and the UK in 2021, we are no longer in a position to supply New Mitsubishi vehicles. Fortunately, we remain an official Authorised Repairer for Mitsubishi vehicles and will continue to do so going forward. We are also pleased to announce we are now an official Authorised Repairer for Peugeot. This is a really exciting opportunity for our business as we grow with the Stellantis brand... Exciting News came in July 2021 when we were offered to represent MG UK for the Durham territory, being in a position to house this exciting and iconic Brand in one of our showrooms. From launch this brand has been a huge success and will no doubt continue to grow in years to come... Watch this space...

2024 To compliment the vehicle sales and Aftersales operations, we launched Croxdale Car & Van Rental to provide the full one-stop shop solution for all of our customers This allows us to flexibly rent both cars and vans (including EV’s) on daily, short term and long term contracts. This is proving to be extremely popular not only for our ad hoc daily rental customer base, but also with our commercial customers. This applies whether it be to assist with a break-down or to provide an additional vehicle to compliment an existing fleet. In line with the growth and demand of our Manufacturer partners New Vehicle Brands, and the diversity of the Used Vehicle operations, we have built a dedicated Aftersales facility with a separate service reception, workshops, Bodyshop and customer lounges to provide the best possible service and convenience for our customers. If you are wondering who we are and what we are about……… Here you have it! We are loyal to our staff, our customers and our Brands. We recognise the key to our many years of success as a local business, is to provide the very best customer experience always and continue to invest long term. We will never be the biggest, but we believe we can always be the best, and still be here when you need us!

2025

Exciting Changes at Croxdale in 2025 2025 marks a major milestone for Croxdale Motor Group as we expand our brand family and enhance our service offerings. We are proud to introduce Leapmotors Durham, Croxdale Jeep, and Croxdale Alfa Romeo, bringing even more choice to our customers in the North East.

Additionally, we’ve launched the Croxdale Service Hub, designed to make MOTs, servicing, parts, and repairs simpler than ever, whether you drive a car, motorhome, or commercial vehicle. This new facility blends expert manufacturer-approved care with a seamless, customer-first approach.

But we’re not stopping there. Throughout 2025, we’re investing in cutting-edge technology, streamlining internal systems, and enhancing our customer service experience to new heights. Our commitment to growth also extends to job creation and apprenticeships, ensuring Croxdale remains at the forefront of the industry.

Plus, a brand-new Croxdale website is on the way, offering a fresh look, improved functionality, and an even smoother user experience.

Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Croxdale Service Station Limited to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders.

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders will pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed.
